Rankin
Patricia Rankin is a Professor of Physics at Arizona State University. With a PhD in High Energy Particle Physics from Imperial College London, her career began in experimental particle physics before expanding into academic leadership and advocacy for women in STEM. She became the first woman on the University of Colorado Boulder's physics faculty in 1988 and later held multiple administrative roles, including Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Development and Diversity. Rankin has received prestigious honors such as an APS Fellowship, Sloan Fellowship, and a DOE Outstanding Junior Investigator Award. She served as a program officer at the National Science Foundation. She was later awarded an ADVANCE Institutional Transformation Grant to improve the representation of women in physics. Her research spans particle physics, academic networks, decision-making, and scientific literacy.
